It's been quite a while since I last posted! The ultimate lurker from philly pa here!
Looks as if there maybe a good chance that I'm gonna have to sell the 67 F250. Her condition is as follows: body is decent, wimbleton white, will need a driver side floor pan, original seat and steering wheel, dash replacement cracked in usual spot, engine 352,still kicking after 150,000+, needs accelerator linkage replaced,(pedal sticks), and now for the bad thing, C4 tranny needs rebuild/replaced, won't shift out of 1st!
Oh yea, just replaced front brakes last Sept/Oct? when tranny gave out!
That's as honest as I can make it, I only run her a couple times a month. "Any guestimates" Is she worth at least $800.00?!
Thanks for any ideas!!

John, That is a good price, but before you bail out you may need to check the vacuum line going to your C6 (no C4s on FEs)trannys modulator on the rear of the tranny, if that is OK you may need to replace that valve. I could be wrong but I don't think a busted tranny will run OK in 1st and just not shift. Try some WD40 on the gas linkage and get it loosened up.
Man don't give up on the ol truck, keep your chin up. ;-)

In the cool still quite of night you can hear chevies rusting away.
my C6 was acting up as well...it was great, then all of a sudden, it wouldn't shift out of first....i got it to work a little...the only thing is that i have to accelerate, then let off the gas to let it shift...i think my problem is the governor, but i know it has a lot of miles and is near it's end-of-life
When I've had problems like that with a transmission I learned from my Dad and Grandpa that if you put a little brake fluid in it can clear up alot of problems. From what they told me it helps tighten up the bands and clean out alot of gunk. Anyone else ever try this? I've never had any problems with it, is this harmful to the trans? I recommend it if your trans is near the end of it's life, could give you some more miles on that old trans. Don't bite my head off if it's a stupid idea, it's worked wonders for me, and saved me money and added life to my trans. Just an idea. Good luck.
John, thanks for your info, and I want you to know that for as little time I spend reading the list anymore, your input and knowledge makes this I BELIEVE one of the most useful and enjoyable sites on the web!!!
Well, I will try the modulator, but I have replaced it once before with no luck, did it when I changed the tranny fluid. Not sure what valve you mean to check besides the modulator?
Thanks again for your advice!!
Depending on body, that is a good starting price.Around here(NE Kanas)I pick those up for 300-600 running,non-150-300.But yours might be a little less rusty than what i find.
Have you tried all positions on the column?Maybe you just hooked the v. line to it and broke it?How about shifter adjustment into trnads lever?
My '79 was acting up and was all external adjustments, never know
