I'm been reading here for while now digesting all this good information and putting some of it to use. Good stuff! As you can see on my signature I've made some inprovements, good improvements. I get 11mpg pulling my 5er in the 'fast lane', 18-20 empty. Now my problem is when I tackle that big mountain, I'll do great for a long while but it will go flat at upper rpm's. I'm afraid to turn up the propane but I really like it because it stops a lot of that down shifting on the little hills (I have it on a low setting-4,000 miles on a 20 lb. tank). That down shifting was driving me crazy. I've considered fuel pump-system upgrade, a SD HPOP & or a 17*HPOP, modded IDM, new injectors, turbo upgrade, etc. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks in advance. Glenn
Thanks everybody, I've been considering different injectors and a SD hpop. But, what is all the hype about the modded IDM? What is the quickspool h2e? As far as turning up the propane, I gave it another 1/2 turn but my next trip isn't until april. I'll see then what its like with more pane, I'm nervous about hurting my motor though!
The IDM mod puts more voltage to the injectors, get's them open faster and holds it a little longer. Helps a little on a stock truck, but from what I understand, it really starts earning it's keep with the bigger injectors.
I just read that you can do your own IDM mod? Anybody ever tried it? Also, I read that some guy has put a Van turbo on his truck, what would be the difference and advantage of that? Glenn
ive done the idm mods myself but i have a fairly strong electronics background. it can be done but its something that could be screwed up very easily.
like cookie said it makes a little differnce on stock injectors but a large differnce on modded injectors
the van turbos would work very well it flows more air and has a 1.0 ar housing on it instead of the superdooties .84 mech2161 is running one on his rig and i think he is running 530 hybrids
the quickspool h2e is a holset turbo hybrid that hypermax has. they have it in a standard trim and the quickspool trim. the quick spool has a slightly smaller exaust turbine and some differnces in the compressor also. i think if your running under a 250cc shot injector the quickspool is a better choice and larger than that you will need the extra air the standard trim can provide.
