Well I have had my 2002 F250 XLT SC SB 4wd for 5 months and have put about 6,000 miles on it so far I recently posted another topic when I first got it But since then I have changed my user name because of the new truck. I recently had a 84 F250 XLT regular cab long bed 2wd with a Big Block 460 it was a good truck. But I like this one much better I have since added 35's and a super chips turner and a 4 inch exhaust system cat back since I bought it. I am waiting on my tax return money to install guages for EGT and turbo boost I just wanted to post that I havent had any problems with it so far. Which I wouldnt suspect I would I just read of a lot of other people with problems with there trucks on this forum with milage close to mine. Well I recently had to replace the surpentine belt since it squeeked on me when I shut it off. No CPS problems yet either. Out of all the 7.3's I test drove I feel mine runs the best and started the best it can be 20 degrees out side and I dont plug the truck in and it will start with no problems. Anyway just wanted to share my truck with the rest of you I will be posting pictures soon
Thats good to hear about. Out of curiosity, what other years did you test drive that wearnt as smooth as yours? I own an 02 also, and some have made comments that mine is unrealisticly quiet for a 7.3. Gotta love it.
Well a guy I used to work for had a early 99 with 200,000 miles on it and in my opinion was very under powered compared to mine it was also a SC SB 4x4. When I was looking for mine I test drove a late 99 SC SB with 175,000 that didnt run as well as mine I also test drove a 2001 SC SB with 60,000 that did not run as well and have the smooth power mine dose mine is a 2002 with 61,000 when I bought it from a big Ford dealer the other truck were at hole in the wall car lots maybe that has something to do with why my truck runs better then the others. So far its been all that i expected of it I just wish at times i would have got the 6 speed instead of the auto my old truck was a 4 speed that I swapped a ZF 5 speed into.
I was referring to powestroked, for saying he hasnt had any problems with his truck yet. I was saying knock on wood. Havent you ever heard that saying??
LOL well hopefully I wont have to knock on wood I have actully had good luck with all the F250's Ive owned and this would be my 3rd. I work at a Honda car dealer as a tech and I hear a lot of the other techs in there talking down on Ford cars and trucks. I have even had heated arguments lol with a few of them I guess being Im 21 and the yougest in the shop may have something to do with me being a hot head about it at times. But I just dont think anyone in the shop have a leg to stand on when trying to talk down Ford cars or trucks. I have had no problems with mine ever just more maintance and normal parts wearing out alternator power steering pump etc. which I dont consider problems just normal small parts that wear out they have always done me good when I need them the most and I dont think many if not all of the have ever owned any Ford cars or trucks. I remeber I really wanted a Toyota truck when I was about 17 thinking they would out live any Ford truck but I know retract that statement after owning the trucks I have especially my 84 F250 4wd play truck. I have pictures of me jumping that truck pretty high off a mound of dirt with out any problems to the truck and there were plenty of nights when me and other guys got pretty crazy in out trucks and beat on them pretty good with my truck never breaking down or having any problems. I guess my point being to this reply is THAT I DONT THINK I HAVE TO KNOCK ON WOOD FOR BRAGGING ABOUT MY TRUCK YET LOL thanks for your posts

That's the difference between folks in this group and "normal people".
We expect to replace some maintenance items as "routine".
They see those same things as "problems" and "failures".
When I do a water pump at 135,000 miles, I think that the pump had a pretty-good lifespan. Others see it as the reason they burned up an engine at that milage.
Of course, I would make a case for Honda being a very good producer of vehicles. Only major design flaw I ever saw was the lack of a seal retainer on the counter-balance shaft in the Accord/Odyssey 4-bangers a few years ago.
Ford's dead-ended fuel rails sure wasn't a wise cost-cutter, nor was the use of non-servicable front wheel bearings. Their air filter box design wasn't stellar, either. Of course, I could go on.
The reason I'm here is to share in the development of a extremely reliable truck, despite Ford's "Better Ideas", and I think we're getting closer all the time.
