Hi Everyone. I'm new to the forum, and have started a frame-off restoration of a 1954 F250 Flatbed. Does anyone know where I can find a rear frame crossmember (original shape).
I have a '53 and '55 F-250 pick up and the only place I know is to either have it custome made by someone like Dan Carpenter or to buy a used one. You could try Bruce Horkey Wood and Parts as he has some used trucks and might seel the parts. Also there is a guy in North Carolina "Flashback F-100's" that might have something used. I had the same problem finding bed parts for mine and ened up buying the '53 to use the parts for the '55. The F-250 is a little harder to find some parts for. I saw a guy at the Pidgeon Forge Ford Truck Nationals that had a '55 F-350 with a 9 foot bed. He had his sides made by Dan Carpenter. Good luck
AFAIK all the crossmembers should be the same on the 100's 250s and 350s. Unless the flatbed used a different rear crossmember, don't limit your search to just one from a 250.

Actually the F-250 bed is wider and taller, at least the pick up bed is, than the F-100. Hence the problem. If you have or are making a flat bed, wouldn't you be able to use wood for the cross members. I would think that would be acceptable, unless you are using the truck for hauling heavy duty stuff. I know the pickup bed is taller and wider than the F-100 because there are small wheel tubs in the F-250 bed and the tail gate and front panel are taller. The did make some 8 foot F-100 beds, I saw them at the PF Nats, but I'm not sure if they are the same bed as the F-250. Steel tube might also work for a bed cross member.
The frame crossmember is what I need. It should be easier to search for an original off an F100. Thanks for the info. By the way, I am located in CT if anyone has one.

all the frame from F100-350 in 53-56 (and possibly 57-59) were identical as far as crossmembers are concerned, so it shouldn't be a very difficult search. It is quite possible someone on here has one or a dozen sitting around.
