I am getting ready to weld boxing plates in on the rear frame rails and have to answer a few questions first. I was going to have the frame powder coated but have changed my mind. I am now going to use Chassis Black instead. First question is do I coat the area first? Second I was going to cut symetrical circles in the plates to allow acess behind the plates. What do you think of this idea? I am going to bolt the rear cross member in and weld the boxing plates around the crossmember for a cleaner look. Or should I just epoxy prime and paint the frame? Any suggestions would help----Thanks
You won't be able to paint the frame with any paint besides "weld thru primer" and then weld the plates in without setting the paint on fire. I highly recommend cutting ~3x6 oval holes in the boxing plates for access and finishing the inside of the frame. That size hole will allow you to swing a wrench inside the frame. Round holes will look good, but you won't be able to do much wrenching thru them. I'd suggest doing a search here, frame boxing has been discussed in some depth in several topics lately, and it will save retyping and forgetting something important.
I might suggest taking a minute to reset your font to a smaller size.
I was just going to suggest that we all set our fonts to his size! I can read it much more easily....

Vern, go into the view menu on your browser menu bar, click on text size, choose larger or largest. (or trade up that 14" monitor!)
