a while ago, i remembered a thread that said something to deal with a shim that you could add to either side because of an unlevel truck. well, my truck sits about 1'' low in the rear left corner. i had someone ask me today if my frame was bent. then i knew it was getting bad. sitting on level ground from directly behind, it looks like a really really fat chick is sitting in the corner of my bed. does anyone have the part number or thread that contained this info? tried searching to no avail. Thanks FTE.
well, i found the info i was looking for, from AustinS, searching deeper does wonders.
Here's the bulletin on this issue:
99-05 F-SuperDuty Rear Suspension Lean:
This applies to rear suspension lean only. The truck needs to be parked on a level surface with no load (or at least loaded evenly) and all tires inflated evenly. Inspect for spring damage or shackle bushing wear. Measure vertically from the lowest point of the wheel rim (not from the ground) to the wheel lip. If the measurment is within 3/5" from side to side, no action is required. If the measurement is greater than 3/4", measure the gap from the top of the axle to the rebound bumper bracket. If this measurment is within 3/4", inspect the body mounts and have the frame checked. If the measurement is between 3/4-1", install shim 3C3Z-5A300-AA on the low side, between the spring spacer and spring seat. If the measurement is between 1-1.75", install shim 5C3Z-5742-AA on the low side. If the measurement is greater than 2", replace the spring. Install longer U-bolts if necessary.
TSB 04-23-6
Hope that helps you guys,
Austin
Mr. Dan or Scott, you can lock this now if you want.....
i tried that. but she eats alot, and is getting expensive. my girlfriend doesnt like her too much either. The fat chick burps louder than her and she can't deal with that.
Hey strokin, were you able to get the part you needed? I contacted my local dealer with the 3C3Z-5A300-AA part # and the parts manager (My buddy) said that part # doesn't exsist in their inventory. I asked him about the TSB # too and he said their techs organize everything by 04A 04B 04C, etc so the 04-23-6 TSB didn't help me either. I only need the 3C3Z-5A300-AA shim, my driver's rear end sags about 1/2-3/4 inch all the time. Nobody notices it except for me lol.
i posted a topic and then i searched some more and found what i wanted. i thought it was useless then. if you want to keep this open for discussion, thats fine.
That's the best reason to leave it open. We don't generally lock them unless they go bad, but this is a very good information thread. I appreciate you digging the info up....makes it easier to link to for the next guy.

Heck yeah! I didn't even know the leaning was common on these superduties and neither did I know there was a TSB out for it.
