Turbo Gaskets Needed??

I've got a new exhaust housing (1.15 AR non wastegate) and intake housing (ATS) coming for the turbo. Are there any gaskets between the housings and the turbo on either or both sides that I should be getting while I wait for the parts to get here? Gaskets on the back where it hooks into the exhaust? I plan on replacing the o-rings for the turbo and pedistal while I've got it off--they're cheap and I'd rather be safe than sorry.

So, any advice on what gaskets, seals, ect. that I'll need to get the turbo off, housings changed, and turbo back on -- is, as always, greatly appreciated, especially given I've never had the turbo off this truck before. Any general advice on turbo removal and replacement would be nice too.

Thanks!!
JT

I know that you already know about the o-rings, but when I pulled the turbo and installed the WW, there were no gaskets anywhere. The only 'gasket' that I am aware of is the donut at the spilt on the up pipe, not the turbo.

Sounds like you're gonna have some fun.... OH, pick up a kelvar bullet-proof vest for your belly, you'll need it.

Jt - no gaskets for turbo up pipe and dn pipe. Just Marmon clamps. I would like to change out my turbo and pedestal orings. Can you give me a source and part numbers?

So ther is a gasket on the up pipe at the back of the turbo? Will I be able to re-use the old one or should I get a new one? I'll probably need it too, since it will be coming off with the turbo, correct?

Oh, I'm going to be having a lot of fun. The truck is undergoing a big change. In addition to the turbo stuff, there is the externall regulated fuel system (which you already know about), a chip from DP tuner, BTS valve body in the trans, and external filters for the trans, oil, fuel, and coolant. And I just ordered the LED Lighted Flip Chip Switch Position Display with no position plate from Garrett (great guy!!) at BCDP. You can see the switch display here:

NO, there is NO gasket at the turbo, the up pipe is two pieces and it's between those two pieces. You won't be touching that.

Well, I had to ask. Like I said, I've never had this turbo off and I didn't know. I don't want to get into the job only to be stuck late on a Saturday night trying to get things back together and have to wait until Monday or Tuesday because of something as simple as a gasket.

Yea plan on struggling with the up-pipe - to - turbo clamp - it's a real pain to get to!

You should just need the o-rings - that's all I needed.

JT- The donuts can be ordered as a 1977 351 Windsor if you want to get em. Fel Pro makes a decent one. It's slightly larger than stock. From what I've learned, the up pipes themselves get galled and they can help cause the leaks. Check around them for soot to see if you need to do yours. I have 180k on my truck and haven't done them, but they are sitting on the shelf in the garage.

Here is a pic of the donut. The blue one is the fel pro. The grey one is what some online site sold me perporting to be a fel pro.

Good info to know. Now I just need PA to be closer to MO so I could use that great stand you built to make it easier to work on my turbo. Maybe I'll try to fab one up before then though.

there is no need to loosen the up-pipe to remove your turbo. i have done anumber of turbo removals with out touching the up-pipes thjey are very difficult to get but again there is no need to loosent he up-pipes even though the manual will tell you to.

the only thing i forsee you needing is new turbo hold-down bolts. stop by KCMdieseperformance.com (i believe that is it) and pick up the turbo seal kit. it includes thicker versions of the 4 pedestal o-rings, compressor outlet o-ring, and two smaller ones for the inside. it also includes two new stronger bolts that won't stretch, that hold the turbo down. it also includes two new Jesus clips for the wastegate linkage, which you won't need.
