I Frankensteined the bed of my truck. I made it from 4 different beds. To get it to sit level with about a 3/4 " gap between the cab and bed I had to put a 1" spacer under the front cross member. Could my frame be bent? Or have others had to shim up the front or back?
when I mocked mine up for it... a brand new bed from Mid-50... it was low on the front right corner about 3/4" and front left about 3/8" I plan on cutting shims from steel or aluminum to get it level...\
you need to pick a constant point of reference... either measure from the ground (at the same spot every time) or a spot on the frame rail... could have been tweaked or bent a lttled... I wouldn't fret over it..just shim it... it will never be seen... but the top of the bed line will have to look right (level) with the rear window... you'll be able to see a miss there from a block away... same as looking at top of the front panel and the tailgate when approaching from the rear...if it's cattywhompas it's will show. I see that all the time in newer trucks or older ones that have had a load on the corner and things look bent
Ok thanks I just didn't know because all of them that I took apart didn't have any shims. An inch seems to level it with the back window and the gap between the bed and the cab look good.
