Hey guys.
I have a little problem. i have no back brakes. any idea what could be wrong? when i step on the brakes they go all the way to the floor and only the front works. i know i have pad left on them becase my ebrake works good. ohh and my abs light is on all the time and my brake light comes on from time to time.
any help with this would be great!
thanks.
Mitch
Check your fluid!!!! have them bled and ajusted if you have no brake fluid at the rear than it is either the master cylinder or the equliser valve my guess is eithea the master or a broken line or a blown wheel cylinder!!!!
I would agree, sounds like a bad wheel cylinder. Check fluid level first, then brake lines from the wheel cylinders forward. If broken line is not found, pull drums because it is most likely a wheel cylinder. Hope this helps.
Yes guys there is fluid, haha. and i checked underneath and there was no wet spots so all the lines should be solid.
i will pull the tires off tommorow and check out the brakes. then i shall give you some more info.
thanks for the reply.

Haha. yes i am talking about my new sexy baby. not my 79. thats this summer ill be asking the?'s about the 79.
but for now i got to get that PSD in tip top running order. its niclkel and dieming me to death!
but its got to end somewhere.
anywayz........ i pulled the wheels off and the drums. and the left side of the truck had no pads left at all. then i pulled the right and they were still good??????????? but im going to replace both sides and all. going to get them turned tommorow and back together. so ill c if she works then. so ill let you know tommorow.
thanks again for the help! ohh and keep it comming!
Mitch
I know it's nickel and dimein' you to death, but that sounds weird to me. I would replace both wheel cylinders while your there. They should only be like $14 a piece, or less. And then bleed the crap out of them. If it were me, I'd leave one line off and make fluid run out of it and the vise versa on the other side just to make sure your getting good fluid to the lines and bleed again after they are connected of course. If you are still getting a soft pedal, it's gonna be your vac pump. Mine dropped a vac pump a few month ago. And the pedal was really funky, it didn't go to the floor, but it wasn't stopping either. And the install on that is a breeze if you have the puller. Took me like 45 min. Hope that helps.
Finnaly done!!! i replaced my back brake shoes and had the drums turned. and i have back brakes!. ohh ya there was noooooooooo pads left on the shoes. nothing! but they work now. so when i took it for my test drive my pedal still went way down there! so i figured it was the front brakes. well i just did those tonight and me pedal still went about half way down before they really started stoppin. but the funny thing is, if i push it in a little bit like an inch i can feel them a little and if i keep pushing they get a little stronger and strong then they just kick in almost. so what would that be from?
