Question Air bag (SRS) codes ??

01 Ranger 3.0 FFV 2wd auto with 119k miles

First of all let me say I have no intention of working on this myself. I know enough about SRS to know that I know nothing and won't work around something that can and will blow up in my face and ruin my day.

That being said I would just like to be armed with the correct information before getting serviced at the dealer. Knowing as little as I do about SRS I don't want to get bent over paying for the SRS equivelant of muffler bearings, kinooter valves, and/or blinker fluid.

When I start the engine, the airbag light flashes four times, pauses, and then flashes six times and pauses. This repeats itself fives times (4,6) and then the airbag light just stays on. I'm assuming this is a "46" code but can find no SRS code info anywhere.

Anyone got any ideas?

LFC 46 corresponds to a fault in the driver's side belt pre-tensioner.

Repair could involve the pre-tensioner/belt assembly, wiring, or the restraints control module.

The service documentation indicates that great care must be exercised when working on this portion of the system, muh like with the airbags themselves.

If you don't have the service manual or don't feel comfortable working with electrically activated pyrotechnic devices, leave everything in this system to the dealer.

BTW, your post would have gotten noticed a lot sooner if posted in the section for your truck instead of a low-traffic engine sub-forum.

I had this same code and it ended up being the seatbelt sensor connector under the passenger seat was loose/corroded.
