White Residue
I have a 98 4.6L and I am using Valvoline Maxlife 5W30. When I remove the oil cap there is a white smiley residue built up around the cap. I replaced the PCV valve and this has not helped at all. The residue is not sweet and I have not used any antifreeze. This problem started before my last oil change and its been 3000 miles and the problem still exist. I am 99% sure this is water but I can not figure out how it is building up. I drive at least an hour or two on the weekends when travelling home from school so the truck is getting warm enough for the PCV system to work. Any ideas would be very helpful.
