This is with the engine off then? You pump the brakes and it makes the PS fluid come out?

I know in the gas models, the PS fluid will come flowing out and you have to keep pouring if you have the engine on. Sometimes we take the plug wires off so we keep it coming by cranking. But in the case of the diesel, you are saying that without pumping, will the fluid still come flowing out?

The hydroboost system only moves oil through the lines if the steering wheel is being turned, or during braking. Alot of fluid is used especially for braking. It is a two man operation, one to keep a steady eye on the reservoir level, and one to turn the wheel and operate the brakes. Alot easier to do when the frontend is off the ground.

The truck needs to be running no matter what. The front end in the air just makes it easier on everything including the turner person.

You should add to the instructions that you will want some kind of wind barrier for the fan for dummies like me who don't want to end up wearing alot of the ATF. :P Luckily my girlfriend was on steering wheel and brake pedal duty or else I might be sleeping on the couch for a week.

put a little stp oil treatment in there (the honey looking stuff in a blue bottle). It works wonders on a noisy ps pump.

or, if you have the time, do the full flush like Kris suggested.
