drove my bronc to work this morning. everything was fine. on my way home, about 5 min into the trip the windshield wipers went on. the switch was off. the wipers stayed on the rest of the ride. i sut the truck off came back a few hours later took her for a spin and the same thing about 5 min onto the trip the wipers came on. this time they kept going on and then stop on there own only to go back on about a min later. not sure if it is the switch or an electrical problem. i was wondering if anyone had a similar problem or how to figure out where the problem is. thanks in advance

Sounds like a multi-funtion switch problem. I know the cap on the stalk for the multi-funtion switch cracked on my 92 and gave me wiper troubles. Not the same troubles but troubles nonetheless. I just replaced the whle thing... its not inexpensive but a simpler route to go than to try to disassembly the switch and repair it. Before you start tearing into it though, double check the wiring harness running to the wiper motor, it may have gotten pinched somehow and wires are shorting together.
My truck does the same thing all the time- the wipers will stop when they're turned on, the radio shuts off or resets itself (the clock, preset stations- it's annoying), and sometimse the back window won't go up. I'm guessing it's all little electrical stuff, but it doesn't seem to influence whether or not my truck runs so I don't worry about it. The stupid little problems make me love it even more!
I too have had switch problems, seems going to work one morning the bell for my inside door(as opened) kept singing . i though weird hmmm outcome replace door switch. The switch for my rear view window will not last a year especially summer months . Never had wiper problems (yet) but am glad u posted this problem.Other switches ive replaced have been door switches(electric locks)window switches: drivers and passengerand the headlight switch TR good luck
Oh yeah, I forgot about the dinging noise. My truck will do that- it's the sound it makes if you leave your lights on, but it happens when the lights aren't on. To get it to stop, I have to jiggle the place where the key goes in.
i have burned up a lot of headlight switches too. my fog lights in the front are hooked up directly. i guess it cant handle it. my truck does do the dinging door noise as it pleases too. thats kinda weird. it usually fixes itself so i am not too worried. how bout this one. both blinkers work fine in either direction but if i put my hazard switch on the lights dont flash and then my blinkers dont work for a while. they start working again after a while. not sure how long it takes cuz i stopped using my hazzards altogether
