Tailgate Problems
I recently purchased a 93 Bronco XLT. I'm having a few broblems with the tailgate. For one, the window works using the dash switch but not the key. I am thinking of replacing the wiring harness. Any thoughts on this? I also can't get the friggin' gate to open. This is driving me insane! I played around with the handle and got the gate to open ONCE. I'm thinking of doing a total overhaul of the inner components. Any suggestions?

The rear glass must be ALL the way down to get the gate open. If its not, the gate will not release. If it appears the glass is indeed all the way down you can remove the inspection cover inside and near the center of the glass there is a rod with a hook on it that should catch on the bottom of the glass once it reaches the bottom of its travel. If this rod is missing or damaged, the release on the latches will not engage so the gate will not open.

I ran outside and dropped the rear window ALL THE WAY down. The tailgate popped right open... Dohh!!!
