Educate me......please!!!!
While poking around under the hood of my 91 3.0 today, I noticed a switch on one of the lines coming of my steering rack. Hmmmm......quickly took a look in my EVTM and sure enough Connector 157 "Power Steering Pressure Switch". This is an Input Signal to the EEC Module. Can anyone tell me how my Power Steering Fluid pressure can have any effect on my engine performance? Or for what purpose the EEC needs this input signal?

It tells the ECM to increase idle speed momentarily to compensate for the additional load when you are steering at the red light. With that said, I have seen new power steering lines come with provision for one of these switches, but I never had to put in one. Both my '93 3.0L and my '95 4.0L do not require such a switch.
