Just after harvest time I had a ad in the producer in the want ads for a 272 or 292 Ford V8. ( I got 24 replies) Anyway I almost ended up buying a 272 for 300 from a guy just out of Clavet. Just before calling to see if I could pick it up I found out about one by Bruno that was pretty well given to me however.
Just thought I'd clear the air.
By the way there were some interesting calls most thought I was talking about a 6 banger. One guy tried to sell me a 410 Massey combine. (which has a 292 Chevrolet motor.)

That sounds familar, I was about to ask you if you were the same person that I talked to about the 272. Glad to hear you did find one. Have you installed it yet and do you know how good it is? Hope it works out for you, these old motors are getting hard to find.
My brother used to have a 56 Ford Sedan Delivery with a 292 that he swapped in a 312 4 bbl motor from a 57 Ford.I think that was one of the first applications of the Holley 4150 series carbs that are so popular today.
He sold it about 20 yrs ago.I saw it a few years later on a car trailer and have never seen it since so I don't know what ever happened to it.He told me a story once about how he pulled up next to a guy with a Hemi Cuda on Albert St. in Regina one night at a light. The Sedan Delivery had 4.10 gears in it so when the light turned green he nailed it and took off, the guy in the Cuda nailed it and sat there spinning.About 1/2 a block later the Cuda passed him like he was standing still but he had a good laugh anyway.I went to a swap meet in Melville a couple of years ago and a guy was trying to sell an old aluminum intake for a Y-block so the parts are still around but getting rarer.
The motor is currently at Hank's to my understanding the bottom half is done. The heads have stalled because me and my dad are planning on doing the heads ourselves, but waiting 2 weeks for the stone that grinds guide. So I am currently un denting the truck.
Snowking, what is the motor out of that`s at Hank's and is it a 272 or 292? I have some spare engines & heads laying around if you need any parts.
IDF, love to hear stories like the Cuda one, makes my day. The cuda driver was lucky he caught up at all.
PPY, all old trucks have to have dents other wise they`re not old trucks.
The motor looks to be a 292. The motor was from a larger truck 2 ton or 1 1/2ton. If you would happen to have a thrust plate that would be extremely helpful. I have one coming in from Ebay but I would sooner have one as soon as possible.
Yes, if you can find use for it. When I get rid of something is when I need it, not till then. Now I don`t take too many chances, end up storing a lot of junk.
