Is it possible to use the 78' and earlier round headlight bucket / doors in the 79' grill? I want round lights with out the expense of changing the entire grill.
When I had my 78 as a kid, I thought that was the best grille. Now I have a 74 and think that is the best. I really do like the 76-77 though too. The 73-75 remind me of the early BIGFOOT!

the 78's i've seen came with either sq or round should just have to change the head light mount's and the plastic surround. I personally like the 76-77 insert's in either silver or blacked out. The look more like the pre 73 grill's. My 78 i switch out the grill to a 77 then i just had to decide if i wanted the white turn's out of my 76 or keep the orange turn's

i personally like the 73-75 split grills. even though my truck hasnt really advanced beyond being a collage of parts and pieces, i still think it looks pretty good with the split grill. 74f100--did you just put a patern on some sheet and cut it out to get that? i had a thought to do something similar but im not that articulate with metal shaping yet.
I like the 73-79 styles. They all look good with a good grille frame and grille inserts. Gotta like the 79 chrome headlight inserts, and chrome grille and 74 F100 351m custom grill.
I've always liked all the grills except the 78-79, I never liked those as much. In fact, I joined this board to ask about the interchangeability of the grills.
I just bought a 79 with damage to the front grill. I wanted to replace it with a 76 grill. Are they interchangeable? I assume from the earlier posts here that they are. Is it an easy swap or does it require a lot of other changes to make it work?
My first post. I'm glad I found this site. I love old Ford trucks. I just sold my 65 Ford today and I already bought this 79. My wife isn't too pleased with me.
i have a 74 that i changed over to a 79 grill, now both my 79 f100,and my 74 dually 4x4 have matching grills. i have the all chrome grill,an bezels in both trucks, but i also have 2 spare 78-79 grills, one gray, one black.i also have a spare set of black bezels.i can change them around if i want a different look. i prefer the 79 full chrome grill combo the best, but 73-79 they all ROCK!!!
