73-79 grills

I am just curious about which grill style you are all into? the 73-75, 76-77, or the 78-79? I myself am partial to the 78 with the round headlights, but the more I look at the earlier 2 piecers, the more I like them. Now I would like to get others opinions on them.

Im fond of the 73-77 style. Some 73-75, some 76-77, to me it depends on the rest of the truck and how it goes with it. My 76 has the 73-75 style, and my 77 has the original 77 style. Im not too fond of the 78-79 style, Ive never been into them.

What I like about the 73-77 is how the parking lamps / turn signals are above the headlights, which is why I like the 65-66 also.

I allways thought a 78-79 bronco would look cool with a 73-75 grill, I am fond of those

The earlier (2 piece) style seems to make the truck look wider - I like that proportion a better.

I have to agree with you guys totally. I love my 1 piece that I have on the 78, but the earlier ones just look more menacing, especially with the turn signals above the lights. Its a hard call if I want to swap mine over, thats for sure!!

That's about the best word I've heard for it yet. I thought my 78 grill looked pretty good until I put the split grill on the truck. Like an extreme makeover it suddenly looked more EVIL!

When I bought my '76 high boy, someone swapped the front clip from a '78 with the round headlights. It looks OK but this spring I plan on swapping the 2-piece grille from my old '77 F150. I also have the plastic grilles from the '73-'75 years. I can then change the look whenever I feel like it.

I always likedthe 73-75 grills but the clear turns on the 77's look good too. I plan to paint my '79 grill black with silver surround (just like headlight buckets) and repaint the headlight buckets. We'll see how it looks then. i still miss my old '73 bright orange explorer shortbed. That truck looked great with the grill blacked out.

hey Ivan,
when you put the new frontend on, did you do the whole front clip, with the hood, or just the left fender and grill. And I have to say, I am damn jealous of your ride. That thing is sweet, you should bring it to WI and hit the pipeline! Oh yeah, one last thing, yours looks way more menacing with the 2 piece on it.

I like all the styles. My '74 has its original grill and I like that one the best though. The '76-'77 would 2nd, and I'd rank '78-'79 3rd, but again, I like them all.

I built the new hood with the cowl induction scoop, it was a junkyard hood. My radiator support was tweaked from my wreck so I swapped in a new support and new fender. I had removed the whole clip when I was working on my engine so I just put the new parts in when I put it back together, and then put in the split grill. I also have 73-75 inserts in the garage, just haven't tried them on there yet.

I currently have the stock '77 style (which I like), but I'm thinking of getting the '73-'75 style and blacking them out. That should look mean, especially at night when the only thing ricers will see is two looming headlights staring down at them, LOL
