7.3 power

i have a buddy that hase a 87 7.3 f350 automatic and he cant pull a 14 foot heavy duty gooseneck unloaded and my 86 f350 with 12000 poundes on a 20 foot heavy duty pulles fine what is causing his power lose he hase already changed all the filters and oil and such as that

How does his truck run without the trailer?
What do you mean by won't pull it?

What is his axle gear ratio and whats yours..what trans do you both have....what tire sizes.........answers we need answers.

well it seems to run fine when it anit pulling the trailer but it dont have the power that my 6.9 has with or with out the trailer but it runs down the road fine after u get it going but it seems like it takes 10 mins to get it going

Sounds like the timing of the IP pump may not be set properly. That's about where mine is right now. The truck runs fine, but doesn't have the power it should. His best bet for more power is to take it in to a diesel shop and have them check and/or reset the timing. They'll also be able to check the injectors.
