have a coolant leak that starts some where on top of the engine. The coolant runns down the back left side of the engine, and drips off the starter. It doesn't do it all the time. Sometime it only leaks a little and other times it leaks a bunch, and other times not at all. I have crawled under the truck and climbed all over the top and cant't see where it's comming from. Has anyone else had this problem? What am I over looking? I replaced the water pump and the radiater hoses last year. Its not the water pump I have checked it. A bud of mine said to check some hase for the egr valve. Where is this hase at and what size is it?
10 to 1 it's the egr cooler hose. Just to the left of the oil filter housing down in the valley. If it's never been changed it's probably an orange hose.
Also check the heater valve. There is a single philips head screw on the top and they tend to leak around it. It is located next to the passenger side valve cover, directly above the starter.
Mine leaked for months and I was never able to find it, then I read the following post by Jay Bird and figured it out.
possible egr cooler hose leak. cos if ur egr cooler or oil cooler are busted, they're usually busted internally. they jus wont cool, and u'll see tat hot ticker jumping to the hot zone. it sounds manageable. best of luck man! let us know wat it is or wat u find.
worse case scenario, i might come out to give u a hand if u still need help. i'm only in west houston. lol.
Thats a Hell of a good Offer Dom
I tried to rep ya but the rep gods Didnt see it that way
Heres a Good pic of what Dom is talking about
Check right where you see that short orange Hose where it comes out of the Oil cooler and goes to the EGR Cooler
& also the Heater hose towards the Left side of pic it has the Vaccum silinoid on top and that Brass Tee fitting for my coolant filter
thanks guys. it's probably annoying to the OP tat he has tis prob and he cant fix it right there and then. amdriven2liv & benny, u guys are always supportive of all of us six-o's. we need to spread the reps to u as well.
benny, i got the same prob wif the reps too. i gotta spread around some love b4 coming back to u. now who wans some love from the snuggyworm? lmao!
it's the least i can do to give back wat i got from tis forum. if a fellow six-o is in trouble, it wouldnt hurt to have an extra pair of hands and ......... tools! dont forget tools!
Well I found it. It is not leaking at this time, thats the way it goes, when ya want it to leak it's not. I'll think I will replace it anyway. Looks like the best way to tackle this to to take off the pipe that goes to the turbal, if I take that plate off wear the torx screws are at. (front of the hose) Does that whole thing come up.
I have turned a few wrenches before, I replaced the water pump, and ball joint through these forums. the truck has 223,555 mostly trouble free miles. Thanks folks!
