Should the whine be one consistent whistle....mine sounds more like......wooohhhhooooohhhhoooohoooosss instead of woooooohhhhhhhhhhhsssss.....Didn't know how else to make the sound....does anyone have a clip so I can hear what a regular sound is.....never noticed before....but curious.
Sorry....forgot to mention....doesn't look like I have any power loss. Everything else seems ok.....and....would very cold air temperature affect it....it's -15F today
That's cold. Wouldn't surprise me if that had something to do with whatever it is you are trying to describe. Especially if it is something it doesn't normally do.
When the truck is cold, the EBPV (exhaust back pressure valve) kicks in to warm up the engine/cab. You can really hear it with a 3" down pipe and 4" exhaust, no cat. When you step on it, it will cut out for a moment and when the load goes off the engine it will come back until the engine is warmed up. You will also notice what feels like a loss of power or a hesitation. If you have a turbo pressure gauge, it will read zero when the valve is closed. This could be the different sound you hear in the turbo when it is cold. It is louder than the normal turbo wine and intermittent. See if it goes away after the truck is warmed up or if it disappears for a bit when you load the motor. Hope this helps...
