First drive today!!

It's been bad weather since i got my truck last Sunday so it's just been sitting in the garage. Today the sun came out, so I backed it out of the garage, set the tire pressure, and my Dad stopped by to see it. He drove it down to the gas station and we filled up the tank with fresh gas, then I drove back home. After we got back he left, and I decided to wash it. I gotta say, WOW it looks good after the wash. Then I asked the wife if she wanted to go for a drive now that I was comfortable with the shift pattern!! We had a blast driving it!! So many people looked and gave thumbs-up, waves and smiles!! It was a great feeling! The exhaust has holes in what appears to be old glasspacks. I think a new exhaust shouldn't be a big deal?

Congrats, Josh. Yeah...get used to it. Your truck will always get a lot of looks.

Those Y-blocks sound great with glasspacks. Take it to a muffler shop and let them check out the whole system. It won't be very expensive. If the mufflers are holed out, you may have some holes or thin spots in the tubing too. It will be a great chance to get under it and check things out.

Josh,

Keep driving. Tweak it little by little to suit your needs and enjoy the heck out of it. My truck is being tweaked as I get money. Last summer I put 5K on it. My longest trip being 510 one way going to NC. Had the time of my life. If something breaks seek help here and then fix it. Enjoy yourself man.

Josh -

I'm running headers to 2 1/4 exhaust (with crossover tube) into Dynomax Turbo mufflers and side dumps. I think I like this system the best of the 5 different ones I've had on it in 3 years. I'm a slow learner.

My gallery album on "Running Boards" shows how I did the clamp and lip at the exhaust exit.

I like the look of the Rams horn manifolds, Offroadkid. Lots of folks look high and low for those things, and pay $$$ when they find them.

Very nice looking truck.

BTW, the stock column shift pattern is a pretty cheap "anti theft" device these days! It takes some training before you can get anywhere...

I have to agree with that. It seems odd to push the lever forward for reverse and pull it toward you for low.

I could not get it off the dolly when we got it home! Well...I almost did...the wrong way! All it took was once though.

(its been almost 20 years since I drove my last 3 on the tree)
