Opinions

HeY Guys,

I am going to need to put some new tires on this year. Depending upon how much the IRS needs from me this year I may go up to 16 inch from my current 15 inch tires. There are two wheels I have a strong interest in. My wife says Smoothie/Solids. My Uncle says Torque Thrust. I am somewhat torn. Like all good buddies I thought I would turn here for opinions cause I know you all have one. Take a look at this two wheels and tell me what you think. My truck is a slantcab (55") so these two trucks give a true reflection of what mine would look like. I was looking for how to poll but could not locate anything. Thanks again

1 - Torque Thrust: Richardson Truck
2 - Solids: Henne Truck

I like the look of solids, but to each his/her own.
I assume that IRS is not referring to a suspension!

I think I am in trouble...I agree with a female. I think your wife is correct.
I love the look of the steelies. You could even go chrome ones if you wanted a little more flash.

Myself, I really like the look of painted stock steelies, or smoothies/solids. I think they mesh best with the look of '50s vehicles.

I cry uncle; I like the torque thrusts, but not by much....really.
You can't do wrong here. You should buy a set of both and use TTs for crusin, since they have more bling, and the smoothies in inclement weather, since they look more rugged.

Painted steelies for a clean stock look.

Torque Thrust for the custom hot rod look.

Have you considered reverse chrome smoothies? I think they are a great middle ground, add some bling, are inexpensive and, unlike the torque Thrust, few people run them anymore.

I agree with R.J..

chrome reverse smoothies are the best.... those were my first set of 'fancy' wheels.. on a gun metal gray 60 Ch*vy.

but it's really what you want Tac...

Thanks Guys,

I told my wife about the consensus opinion and she said "Don't under estimate what I know about the Slantcab" . 49 that IRS was not the one from a Vette, Jag, or Mustang. It is the Tax Man. Married with no kids we always end having to contribute back to what has already been taken. Christopher thanks so much for setting up the Poll. It looks like I will be going down to Coker Tire, which is about 100 miles from here, and picking up some Solids and BFGoodrich Tires. I did see the Chrome Reverse on Ebay though for I think $60 a piece. Pete Paulsen also had some 15 x 7 Smoothies with Caps for $315. Size will be determined after the Tax Man. 4Speed I think I will paint them red to match the hood emblems. Trying to get ready for Knoxville. Thanks Again everyone.

Donald In Tennessee.

I went through the same decision a while back. I borrowed a friend of mines Smoothies which were OK, but didn't do anything for my truck. Kinda Blah! I also looked into the Torque thrusts, but found that everyone and their mother had torque thrusts on their classic hot rods. Being different, I found the Boyd Codddington Smoothie II's, which are similar to the Torque thrust, but have a diamond cut versus rounded on the blades. Not that I care about Boyd's rims, but I really like the styling. I went with 17" both front and rear. (wish I went 18" in the rear). I get a lot of compliments on these wheels and they were slightly more than the torque thrusts in cost. Check it out.

Imlowr2,

Your wheels look SWEET!!! . I am going to buy the solids and then in a couple of years when the wife and I have all our bills paid I will get a second set of wheels and tires that I can swap out for a chance of pace. I love your rake also. WHat do you have for a rearend?
