How does the service dept at the local dealership program a remote key fob (lock/unlock) for your car??
how long does it take. I just purchased a new car and the dealer ordered me a new key with remote (the 2nd key was lost), they said bring it in, it takes about a hour. Thanks!
i know on the crown vic/merc gm/lincoln/ it takes about 15 seconds to do the remote.
if you have 2 keys, it takes about the same time, 15 seconds to program a 3 key.
if you only have 1 key, they need to hook it up to a computer or something, and that takes 1-2 hours.
What's the year/make/model of the vehicle you're talking about? It seems each manufacturer has about 4 different remotes, and each one programs a different way.
I just re-programmed the key fob for my 02 Explorer, due to the dealer failing to do both fobs. It took all of 30 seconds for me having never done it before. I can't answer about the key, tho.
to program you new fob. Turn key on and off 9 times ending with the key turned on. Waite for the doors to lock and unluck press any button on all the key fobs you want programed then turn truck off..
