shift kits

would a b&m heavy duty shift kit help a 4.9 with a C6 get a better launch and smoke the tires if i held it

Transgo, all the way.
A shift kit won't help a sick transmission though.
Or a better launch.

It won't change anything on take off, (that totally dependent on the power or lack thereof from the engine). It will help make firmer 1-2 and 2-3 shifts that might bark the tires when shifting. Trannies often run cooler and last longer with shift kits by reducing the overlap (dragged out soft feel) during the shifts.

thanks for the info the truck came from a older man who never went over 30 and i bought it for my first truck and wanted to make it a little bit snappier on the shifts but as far as i know the transmission is all good

its got a new trans and motor so im not worried about that
