Well, me being someone who missed my true calling in life, being a professional drummer....I LOVE music, especially modern blues/classic rock. Double Trouble is THE best rythym section...hands down! Chris "Whipper" Layton and Tommy Shannon ROCK! For those of you with great taste in music, like those who have previously posted, check out Chris Duarte and Susan Tedeschi. Chris has a very SRV sound to him and I wouldn't kick Susan out of the bed for eating crackers in it (if 'ya know what I mean...LOL), besides she has a killer smoky blues voice and can play wicked guitar, very Bonnie Raitt like. And check out the Derek Trucks Band (the son of Butch Trucks, drummer for the Allman Bros.)

I'll never forget hearing Clapton talk about driving down the highway somewhere in the US, and hearing this song come on the radio... He said he had to pull over because he couldn't focus on driving, he was blown away. Get that? Eric Clapton, "guitar god", blown away.
It was SRV. Clapton tells the story in that SRV tribute video. I regret the loss of many talented individuals "before thier time" over the years, some even before my time. But it's especially tough about Stevie Ray. Hendrix was certainly a tragic loss for us blues rock guitar fans, but he kinda did it to himself. Stevie almost drank himself to death but snapped out of it. Only to have a mountain jump out in front of the chopper he was just a passenger in. He sooooo didn't have it coming.
I remember hearing Clapton talk about SRV saying that when he saw Stevie in concert, he knew he was in the presence of greatness. Can you imagine someone as good as Clapton saying something like that? I can only hope to have someone half as good as Clapton say something like that about me some day!

That man's got a gift, not to mention an incredibly humble spirit.
If you can ever find a live bootleg of the song "Ocean" you'll just die. It's beautiful. Good luck though, the song was never released.
