Alright got a few q's here on building leaf spring packs (got the idea from a recent mag article and post over on pirate). Anyway i have to replace the front leafs on my mudder, as one of the top leafs was busted clean through, and i don't have a source for a matching spring, but i do have a good set of 3/4 ton rear leafs that i will use (the ones that broke were from an 88 1ton oil rig truck). But i want to make the springs a bit stronger (ie more spring rate) and i wil replace the stock overloads with ones out of a 3 ton grain truck that we have (ironically they were replace cause there were to light ), and i also want to add a few extra inches as well to the spring packs and i was thinking how well would the leaf packs preform with say the spring above the overloads removed and 2 longer leafs from the 1ton leaf pack inserted in the packs?
Oh and since the packs are going to be coming apart for the overload swap, would it be a good idea to diamond cut the edges of the spring for better performance?
