C6 HELP!!! New Update
I let the truck cool for a couple of hrs, and the transmission went right into gear. After it warmed up, the same problem occurred.

I just put a C6 out of a parts truck into my 70 F250. Feel
confident that I had the torque converter all the way in. Nearly
an inch behind the front of the bell housing, and the transmission mated right up to the motor with no problem. When I start up, the transmission went right into gear, no problem. Started down the driveway, and felt something bind up briefly. I stopped, and it clear up. Continued on, every thing seemed great, for about 500 yards, and then it went out of gear. Now every gear is like it's in neutral. What do you think, could it be the torque converter, or is the transmission finished.
thanks
jeff

Might have shered the ears off the trans pump. It's fixable though. Chk and make sure the fluid level is right first. They
take alot if the converter has been drained. If the level is where it should be, ya may had well start pullin.

could be the valve body, or the pressure regulator? Where is
the regulator. Is it replaceable with the tranny in the truck, or is it internal meaning a tranny tear down to get to. Truck has all gears for about 5 minutes when started from cold, then looses all gears.
thanks

I assume the fluid is in good condition and at the proper level?
I swapped a supposedly good c-6 into a 67 stang once, had same symptoms you have. ended up being the clutches were all shot apparently from sitting for a long period of time. Did a simple rebuild and its still going strong today.
