Single vs. dual shocks

Some Broncos have dual shocks on the front. Others, like mine, have singles. My '94 EB suspension is all stock and I must have the trailer package due to rear sway bar, thick radiator and oil cooler under the oil filter. Did dual front shocks come with the trailer towing package or was that a separate option? I'm sure this will be brought out also with all the knowledge here....what are your thoughts also on single vs. dual shocks?

I think dual shocks make the truck look beefyer, but I know alot of people remove one of the duals to have a smoother ride. I don't think dual shocks have anything to do with the towing package. It realy has nothing to do with its towing capacity.

They are supposed to add stability to the front end while towing. I'm surprised they're not there on a truck with a towing package.

Shocks

Thanks guys. I just took a good look on the driver's side for a second set of brackets and did not see any near the single shock. Maybe the extra shocks were unnecessary with a rear sway bar. The previous owner installed KYC Gas-A-Just no telling how long ago but they seem fine to me highway, town or woods even towing.

the front shocks are mounted on either side of the spring. I removed my front shock when i installed my 6" with no issues. i am also not running any sway bars. but dont tow either

As Kem did, I removed both sway bars and the auxillary shocks on my 92 when I lifted it. Too much loss of articulation with all that under there. The additional stiffness of the replacement front springs AND four front shocks made her ride like a flatbed truck. The rear sway bar was an option outside of the tow package but the auxillary front shocks were standard equipment with the tow package. Of course, you can still custom order a vehicle so who knows what the original owner asked for. The tow package also came with the four core radiator and the auxillary transmission cooler.

Remove the front shocks if you want to go to a single shock setup, the front shocks are the auxilary shocks.

Unless you plan on doing some fast desert racing or somthing similar I don't see the use of the 2 extra shocks. I have the option on mine, but when I lifted it I didn't want to spend $80 on 2 more shocks I didn't want. Like said above, they stiffen the ride.

I finally got an up close view of a Bronco with dual shocks up front. The upper bracket is different in it also has a spot for the second shock forward of the spring. Mine does not have it and only has a place for one shock even though I have the trailer towing package and rear stabilizer bar. The purpose of starting this thread was to see if I was missing out on something with one shock and you have assured me one shock is best for me anyway. Thanks.
