Weird Speedometer

I've got a 93 Explorer Sport 2wd. My speedometer is acting up. Every now and than it starts shaking when I go above about 45 mph. This just happened occasionally when I first bought it. I got it with 55125 miles on it. Any ideas on what could be causing it. ?
