after re-installing my 7.3 somehow i have created another problem. before my glow plugs would stay on at initial start for say 30 -45 sec. give or take but now they only stay on for approx 10 sec. and as you can tell hard to start. i believe i have hooked all the wiring bck the way it was but could have missed somethin. the other question is what is the sensor passenger side front between the head and the casing for the inj pump case (two prong screw in the block) i dont believe that sensor was hooked up when i removed engine but when i re-installed i did hook it up (thinkin it just fell off due to vibe) but when i turned my key on to start i noticed that my main wiring harness started to smell then smoke a little. i unhooked immed. and that hasnt happened again. THe plastic casing that holds those two wires together is missing could i have croosed the wires on the actuall sensor? sensor have dead short? thanks for any input.
The sensor behind the upper coolant manifold is the engine temp sensor .....
The Engine Temperature Switch provides voltage to the Cold Timing Advance Solenoid and the Cold Idle Solenoid. When the engine temperature is below 112°F (44°C), the Engine Temperature Switch is closed. When the Ignition Switch is turned to START or RUN, the solenoids are energized, advancing injection pump timing and engine idle, allowing the engine to run more smoothly when cold. When the engine temperature reaches 112°F (44°C), the Engine Temperature Switch opens. This deenergizes the solenoids, returning the timing and idle to normal.

Smoke could be a wire with worn covering shorting out somewhere...........??
