Hello to all. 1st want to say I've not posted in a while because you guys always beat me to it. I search the posts almost everyday and usually find the answers to my quesions that way.
I have a 98.5 PSD from an E-350 ambulance that I swapped into a 90 F-350 about 3 years ago. It has given me fits several times, but you guys have always come through.
Anyway, I was reading about exhaust brakes and saw that the van turbos don't have EBPV's. Is this true? Mine does. It has 1.10 on it and I am pretty sure it is stock. Can anyone enlighten me?
Thanks again,
Craig
yes, the van turbo's come from the factory with a EBPV and the actuator arm on the pedestal. however the only adapter to allow us to run a factory-fit downpipe on our f-series turcks is one that eliminates the flapper valve and that eliminates the exhaust brake ability. you can use the EBPV, but you would need a very expensive (I would guess) custom mount downpipe. the E-series downpipe is different.
Thanks for the reply Strokin.
So the downpipe I have is different from a truck down pipe?
It fits in my OOBS(pre 92 bodystyle) I assumed my bodystyle would be similar if not the same as a 94.5-97 truck. The downpipe is round, not flat and it fits. It does rub on the bell housing of the 6-speed a little. I had to rework the seam in the firewall sheet metal with a hammer and pry bar. Would the van downpipes work for OBS trucks wanting to get rid of their flat down pipe?
Thanks again,
Craig
