I have a ford 351W crate motor with the following engine casting number. F4TE-6015-AA-10. I was told it is a marine engine. Can anyone tell me anything about it? Would it be a good motor for a heavy E350 4X4 van?
Thanks, Craig
The block was originally designed for a 94 truck, as for the complete engine, it depends on how it was built. If it was built for a marine engine, the cam is most likely going to be way too much for use in a van. Marine engines are designed to be run at constant high RPMs. Depending on the CR and the gearing in your van, you'd probably want to swap out the marine cam for one in the 266 to 284 range to get the most useable power in the RPM range you'd be running at.
This is what I was told about the motor. " The cam produces all it's torque at 3000 rpm and horsepower at 4500 rpm. The block is basically a HD truck block very similar to the "Lightning" block, compression ratio should be about 9 to 1." I'm thinking about putting this in a 4x4 class B motor home van. I'm running 4:11 gearing with 33" tires. Hwy driving pulling a small trailer. Any thoughts on how this might work or perform for me over the stock 85 351W HO?
