Just picked up a 78 F250 4wd on a state impound auction...
$300 Complete!
It's got a 460, transplanted I'm sure. and a fairly rusty body.
But it sits straight. and power steering!
I plan on peeling off the body and putting my 66 F250 Bod. on it..
They would have sent it to the local pick a part if it hadn't sold. //
Body just has typical rust, hole in floor, wheel wells. But it has the XLT chrome trim, and it is pretty straight.
If anybody wants I'll be happy to sell
Carb is missing, looks like thats all
It was a runner truck, I found out it was a DUI impound and it was like a 3rd or 4th offense... He's in jail for a while.
Sucks for the guy that originally had it, but it's a great deal for you.
Sounds like the body isn't to far gone if you change your mind about the body swap. Some fender trimming would get rid of the rust, and open up more room for bigger tires.
yeah that's not that much rust. my 77 has similar or more rust. Fortunately as this is common for these trucks the patch panels are easy to find and aren't that costly.
I think if you saw this ol' beast you'd agree it is pretty rusty.
Holes in both fenders. cab floor, back cab corners. holes in both doors, bed sides and bed floor, both riddled. tailgate , bent up. Even with cheap replacement panels it's alot of work replacing all that.
There are still alot of rust free 73-9 bodies out here in So UT, Nev. Cal, AZ etc.
Best part of this truck is it's drivetrain.. the 460/c6/205.
and PS & PB.
the front springs will need rearch or replace. the snubber/bumper between the frame and spring has about 1.5 inchesof gap only. I have a complete set of hi arch front and rears springs off a 71 hiboy.. they should fit, right?
I think I'll flip the u-bolts over too to add a bit of clearance.
I have this terrific shape 66 body I got out of Pahrump (sp?) Neveda.
Not hardly a speck of rust on it...
I just love the look of the 60's era trucks. This one came with 4.56 D-60
It was a mining truck.. spent way more time on desert raods than paved ones.
