are there any previous model superchargers that dont have to run on premium gas? or is that the standard octane on all of them, 91-93 octane?

just a dumb question, but why doesn't anyone ever think about turbocharging these engines? it would be awsome to do a twin turbo setup and thrash everyone on the street!

I think no one turbocharges these engines for a couple reasons: first, there is no available kit to turbocharge a V10 which means one would have to be custom made, meaning either big bucks to have someone else do it or alot of know-how on the owner's part. Many people do not want to undertake a project like this. Second, space. There is very little room in a V10 engine bay for turbos which would make a supercharger easier to install since it sits on the top of the engine.

I think my first reason is the biggest reason why people don't turbocharge the V10, plus you would have to get a custom tune in order for the truck to operate properly. That would probably be too much of a hassle for some people.

Two words, Turbo Lag!! Many people buy the V10 so they don't have to deal it vs the diesel couter part. Also you then have to deal with EGTs and the all the plumbing issues, the SC is a much more direct bolt on part that accomplishes the same thing with a different method.

I think a twin turbo would be the ultimate trick for the V-10, yea it would be a pain to get it all put in and running right, but I bet you could get a lot more hp that way than with the s/c plus it should get better mpg than the s/c. If I win the lotto..

If you are going to try and mod a V-10 to hang with a modded 6.0 you best bring a ton of money and 2 tons of expertise in custom cam and head designing to the table. The 10 is a killer engine for what it was designed for but lets be real. It wasnt designed to be rodded. If power was what you were looking to accomplish then you shoulda went the diesel route or the 5.4 as a base platform to work from.

Open up the intake and the exhaust, get a programmer and call it good! (what I intend to do anyway!) If you want to go fast, get a half ton truck and modify the TAR out of it for thousands less than the Super Duty diesel would have cost you stock! Check out Fast Fords magazine. EASY AND CHEAP to run 11's or even 10's in a 150 compared to ANY heavy truck. That, or LEASE the truck and plumb a 250HP nitrous setup into the intake. Wont last but a couple hard runs... But its fast!!! (better your truck than mine!) You dont think the mod'ed diesels dont die A LOT sooner than normal? Speed costs anyway you look at it!

Big Cheese Stick. You are getting the wrong idea with these new V10s. The exhaust is so good on the new V10s that nothing will really help it. You can get a new exhaust to make it louder, but it won't help you power-wise. The intake, besides for a cold air filter, can't really be altered because it has a Plenium of some sort in it that really can't be changed. Fredvon tried telling you this but you may have overlooked it. Trust the people on this site, especially like Fredvon and Captchas who have experience with this kind of stuff.

G Lube, I've seen on here all kind of comments about the Y pipe being super restrictive. (havent taken delivery of my truck yet, so I cant say!)

I believe I heard before that the 06 trucks have different air boxs than 05's. I think it was due to the new "drive by wire" system in 06 requiring a different shape of the airbox for everything to fit. Anybody know for SURE???

I afraid to order parts before getting the truck and then they dont fit. Already got a BUNCH of stuff waiting to bolt on (its been a LONG 10 week wait!). My dealer lied to me because they had overordered for the month and didnt actually order MY truck for 5 weeks after they told me. Once the truck comes in and I dont have to rely on the turds anymore I'm telling everyone on the planet who to avoid! NOT cool when they start lieing to you before you even get the vehicile!!! Wont be taking it to them for ANYTHING after it comes in!

Big Cheese Stick, the restrictive Y pipe only pertains to the 99-04 V10s. Actually I think its something like the 01-04 V10s since they changed the Y pipe to get rid of the exhaust flutter. The 05-06 V10s have the same a very good exhaust system where you will probably not see much of a performance gain changing it. I'm not sure about the air box but I believe the 05 and 06 air boxes are same as I know both the 05/06 V10s are "drive by wire".
