I'll never get one myself - I'm too cheap! I don't mind paying an initial extra cost, but Oregon more than doubles the re-registration fee to keep your plate. That's too much, especially considering it's just 6 digits in a database. (I was warned not to use the lifetime Special or Antique plates because of the whole 'parade' clause.)
I run a 56 Indiana plate on the front, But a standard plate on the back, Indiana does not let you run old plates, you have to buy there Historic Vehicle plate and you can only drive it X # of miles per year. I thought about 56Bnt8 (V8) though.
I'm trying to select the ideal personalized license plate for my presently stock '53 F-100. I've narrowed it down to "53F100" or "53EFFY". Any good ideas out there? What personalized plates do you have on your truck?
Your other option is to go the "Year of Make" plates that were originally issued for your truck when she was 1st sold.

AK, Go with 53 F100. I've got 54 F100. I think that tells it all! Short and simple,
I just went through this with my truck and posted the same question not too long ago. I was stuck on 5T6 F100 , 56PCKUP, 56 TRK, and I ended up with KLEEN56.
I just asked my sister who is a deputy registrar for the state of ohio is this is available to me: MY51F6. She said it is. This is a great topic.
