if you want to run both linux and windblows, even if just temporary, get a program called vmware. it lets you run virtual machines on one processor, so its like havein X amount of computers, one for every os you have.

If you have a fast Windows machine, Windows QEMU is free, light, portable, and easy to use.
You can surf the web using an alternative OS, and be quite secure compared to Windows.
For example, I surf using a QEMU image of a Damn Small Linux live CD. The image boots, gets a DHCP address, and it is ready to go. Google for info.
