Ok I have a pioneer p4300 HU, and I have my fronts and rears running on the front channel and the rears set as sub on the HU which are run to 2 12s that I have built an enclosure for and put coils in it to keep the higher frequincies out. the thing sounds great and vibrates the hell out my car. the question I have is that there are 3 settings for the sub, 50,125,160 I believe. well anyway. when you set it to lets say 125, does it let all frequincies 125 and below to the speaker, all frequincies 125 and above or only 125. and I assume that the settings for higher frequincies will have the same rules as the lower as far as the pass filters go? I hope I made since with all of that. thanks
Shane
What is the thing near the label? X-over? Any of those would be insanely high for a sub, so I doubt it. If it is a crossover, high frequencies will destroy your subs quickly.
So is there a label near this setting thing you speak of?
Ok, I might pull those out and try that also, but what about the frequincies? if it is set to 50 then does it only send the 50 frq. or does it send all freq. up to 50 and then cut it off. so like if it is set at the 125 will it send the 50,80 and 125 or just the 125 freq.
its in a sub menu on the HU, you can set it to either front and rear channels or to front and sub, where the rear channels are now being driven by an internal amp in the HU which gives you cut off points of 50,80 and 125. I just didnt know if these are hard freq. or if they will play all frequincies up to that point. not a big deal I have it to where it sounds really good, I was just wondering. thanks
All I can figure are those are hertz cut offs of 50Hz, 80Hz, and 125Hz. Makes sense for a sub. 50 would be good with a 12" or 15", 8" and 10"s probably can't hit them really well. That's what I've decided. Make any noticable difference in the real low notes when you change it?
ya, with it on 50 it is a real solid low, at 80 it is alot louder and messier sounding kind of a droning, and 125 I loose almost all of my bass, which I figure is due to my coil I have built into the speaker boxes, which I think cuts off at 80. I knew they were the hertz cut offs but when you have it at lets say 125Hz, would that also still send the 50Hz also? Im thinking it does the more that I thik about it.
