Yes a 16x8 aluminum rim should bolt on, the problem I have seen is on some model of 16 x 8 inch rims is the center hole in the center of rim sometimes is too small. Also some 16x8 inch rims are made with a larger lug nut holes.

My old '75 F250 had the same front axle. The original wheels were the 16.5 split rims. I got rid of those right away. With drums on four corners I was able to run 15 x 8 steel spoke rims with no problems.
