I'm having a problem with my stereo wiring. When I put my headlights on the lights on the stereo blink for a second. I lose my preset stations when I turn the ignition off...however if I leave the lights on and shut the igntion all the preset stations remain when restarting. Someone mentioned I need a "hot" wire to the stereo and to buy some sort of wire plug???
Anybody have any ideas? Thanks
Ok, I'm going to assume that you cut the wires to install a radio? It sounds like you hooked the ground wire to the dimmer line. It will look like a ground wire until the lights are turned on. That or you've hooked the yellow battery line to the dimmer line. You will need a constant hot on the YELLOW wire, a switched hot for the RED wire, the BLACK wire is a ground, and there will be an ORANGE wire that needs power from the dimmer.
