360 Timing

360 Timing

On my 360 it has the timing at 6 degrees BTDC, in drive at 550 RPM. I seen in a few of the older posts that the 360 will run better at 10 degrees. Is this correct?

Try it and find out! :-) Some engines run better, some don't.

360 Timing

The spec for the 390 is 10 degrees and it is virtually the same engine aside from it having a little higher compression with a different stroke.

I have been messing with the timing on my 360 and it runs the best at 12% btc.

1971 F-350 1 ton dump, ground up fully restored w/ 360 motor

I just finished timing my 360 yesterday and about 12 degrees BTC is about right...the book calls for 6 degrees for standard and 10 degrees for automatic
