94 Explorer knock sensor location
I have a 1994 explorer with about 210K KM on it, and it's starting to ping when it's under light load at highway speeds with the engine at full operating temperature. I have always used premium gas for the milage benefit and tried lower octane fuel as a test to see if the knocking was worse, and it was.
My first attempt to fix the problem was to change out the knock sensor, but the part supplied by the parts store has a 2 wire connector on it, and nothing like that exists on the the motor.
Does anyone know if the 94 models have a knock sensor, and where it might be located??
Thanks.

You need to clean you mass air flow sensor - MAF. Yopu ca find out here http://draco.acs.uci.edu/explorer/
All you need is some carb cleaner and you are good to go for another 30K miles!
The reason why it pings is that the sensor gets dirty and does not see the ture air going by, so it tells the computer to send less gas than it needs. It gets too lean and pings.
