OK boys, I went to pick up my new 250SD Lariat today, checked it all out, first I had to tell the dealer that I'm going to lunch, and I execpt to see a clean ready to be delivered truck when I get back, not what I just looked at.
So after lunch I started looking over the truck, I noticed the head liner was cut short in the back by the sliding rear window with a very unfinished look. I looked through the lot and noticed all the 250's where that way, but the 150's were tucked in with a nice finished look.
I'm wondering if anybody else's is like that or did my dealer get a bad batch of trucks with short head liners. If they are all like this Ford has really dropped the ball on the finish of their trucks. You would expect to get a better finished product for $45,000 than that.
If any one else has a head liner that is short in the back let me know as for right now I plan on complaining to Ford about this design flaw.
I just went out and looked- I've been around these trucks for over a decade, and have never had anyone comment about that.
The cause: the SD's and the 150's have a completely different rear window design. The 150's window is glued directly to the cab, the SD has a thick rubber molding that holds the window- and needs that extra clearance. The difference? Five years in body design. But, if you ever have to replace the window, guess which one is easier to do?
I posted some pic's in my gallery. I can't believe they would leave such an unfinished look. As you can see from my picture the gap is as wide as a pencil. I would think they could have covered that with a piece of plastic trim or something. I was just surprised to see something like that when it seems an easy fix with some trim.
I cant wait to get 'er out on the road. I'm swapping the tires for the REAL!! BFG All-Terrains at my buddys tire place tomorrow and I'm trying to put as little miles on these as possible. I should be able to send some pic's of the truck tomorrow.
