Heated Mirrors

I have the TT heated mirrors on my 06 F250 and understand the heat is on with
the ignition switch on. Is there a way to install a switch to control this? Being
in the Houston area this feature is not needed all the time. Any help would be
appreciated.

If I understand what you are saying. The heat is not on all the time. If what I read in my manual the heat on stays on for a short time.Maybe someone who knows more about this will chime in with a better answer.

Mine stay on all the time, or so says the manual. I'm hoping I can just pull the fuse in the summer. I haven't checked to see what may be on the same fuse yet though. A switch may be the only way to do it.

when i installed my tt mirrors, i didnt originally have power mirrors, so i wired the heaters into a switch.... it should work the same for you.... just take a mirror off and see how many wires are coming from the mirror.... the ones for the heaters on mine are both black..... real easy, since either one could be ground. i agree though, that they arent always needed..... i live in alaska, and only need mine usually in the mornings.

I have heated mirrors in my 06 F350. They are automatic and need no input from the driver. You don't need to do anything to them. If the truck is off, so are the mirrors.

I too live in the Houston area and have the heated trailer tow mirrors. I agree they are going to be needed less that 30 days in the entire life of the truck down here but I am struggling to understand why you want to exert the effort to devise a means of contolling them. While not needed, they aren't really hurting anything when they are on, even in July. Plesase enlighten me.

I also have heated seats. For those I can understand wanting on/off control.

With the heat always on, the mirrors get very dirty quick with water stains and spots. After a day or so you can't see through them

Same goes for me. I've not had any problem keeping them clean.

I have an 05 F-250 PSD, and I wired the mirror heaters into upfitter switch #1. Remove the panel from under the steering wheel, take out the 4 bolts holding the fuse panel up using 10mm socket, remove fuse #39, find the 12 pin connector directly behind fuse #39, find the green wire with purple trace, cut the wire. Take the wire from the upfitter switch and connect to the end of the wire coming from the bundle, not the one left on the fuse panel. Thats all there is to it.
I haven't seen any that cycle off and on, all are wired to be on constant from the factory.
Hope this helps.

I'm bringing this thread back to life, I have searched any and all resources to do this switched mirror mod and there are two methods. This one where there's a plug behind the 39 fuse, and another (2004) where it's a grey connector on the top row of the fuse block. Both say green and purple wire. Nope. Not one wire on the back of the entire fuse block tested good for me. If it has koeo power with fuse in or fuse out, no changes in wires. And yes I have heated mirrors. Are Canadian trucks wired different??? I've tried every wire back there!! Oh mines a 2005
