Upgrading mirrors to heated w turn signal. is there a any changes to the switch for heat?

Upgrading mirrors to heated w turn signal. is there a any changes to the switch for heat?

I have an '02' and i bought '03'-'07' mirrors w heat and turn signals. I currently only have power mirrors. they are for a car or something LOL.

I added 05 mirrors to my e99. For the heat switch, I used the defrost switch out of a 97 explorer. It has the timer built in so you just need power in, ground and power out. You will have extra wires but the only other one that you might use will be for illumination.

Here is the wiring diagram.....

Correction....Thats a 94 Explorer... Only wire I had left over was illumination. Now that I see this I also remember just tying the top two wires together to switched 12V so it can only run with the ignition on.

Before install


Part number, (Although it may be the engineering number.. cant remember)


Wires from the back... Try to get a switch with the pigtail.


And the switch installed

I just have mine on a lighted switch... I think I have turned them on 4-6 times in 5 years.

How do '05' mirrors turn on? there isnt any switch in a friends king Ranch.

I don't have a clue. I haven't checked into an 05...Just stole the mirrors.

Hopefully someone here will have that info

Key on probably starts a timer.

The early years, prior to '08 (I believe) were constantly on with key on. I think '08 was the first year they put a seperate switch for the mirror heat on the super dutys. I wired up a seperate switch for the heat on the '08 mirrors I put on my truck.
