I think the rear slider is over-rated unless you have a big dog or a need to get into the bed while moving. Dust settled in the track of mine and sqweaked and rattled enough for me to order a solid rear window. I think the manual slide woulda done it too. Just something to consider if your rig isn't a pavement pounder.
i bought mine used(2004) but i really could do without the adjustable peddles, the esof, tube steps, 2 tone paint, limited slip(want arb's) and the 6 disk cd changer. and want the clearance lights, skid plates, manual 4x4, and f350 instead of f250, but got a fair deal and i love the truck anyways!!! its a keeper!!!
I have v10 dually 4wd with auto tranny.
I was backing up my 40ft fifth wheel trailer down by my pond and it was muddy.
When it was in reverse the truck tranny would(rev-studdering really at low rpm's) not revving up high enough to move the trailer backwards in the sunking mud rut.
I think with a manual tranny I would of had no limiting factor backing the truck and the attached trailer out of the stuck mud rut it was in.
Has anyone notice this with there auto's?
I didn't order one, I went and test drove an SC PSD, a CC PSD, an XLT, then a Lariat, then my wife found a Lariat FX4 with Sunroof, power slider, FX4, power pedels, upfitters, trailer controller, ect ect. Thats the one I got. Many many grins. Only occasionally do I wish it was a 6 sp manual, other than that, no regrets. So far flawless, really good mileage, enjoyable drive.
Ordering the cab-mounted Browning M2 50 Caliber Machine Gun (Build Item No. 12345678 B.S.) was a mistake.
I thought it might come in handy whilst Turkey hunting....BOY WAS I WRONG!
If you don't want the 50, I'll take it off your hands. Mount a big spotlight on it and they are much better suited to drive by deer hunting.
Seriously, most of the time I'm happy for the extra capacity of a 350 SRW instead of a 250. But having the 250's 35 spline rear axles would allow swapping to a more aggressive aftermarket differential for off roading. I'm still waiting for somebody to make something better than Ford's limited slip for the 37 spline 350's.
