Options when ordering. Any regrets?

I ordered my 2006 F350 Lariat PSD 4x4 Crew Cab. Got almost everything (sunroof, power rear slider etc)

I REGRET not getting:

upfitter switches... (what was I thinking... 60 bucks.. shoulda got em)

chrome package (didn't think I'd like the tubular cab steps, but should have)

20" wheels...

I'm still a little torn over wether I should have gone King Ranch vs. Lariat. I REALLY wanted the king rang interior, but I REALLY don't like 2-tone paint (wanted all black)

Actually, I think you can change the order most any time until the build starts. I know I changed the color 3 or 4 weeks after the order went in....

I changed mine 2 weeks into it. Considering the insde is the last part done. I added the moonroof and the power rear slider after I placed my original order.

Roof clearance lights, stabilizer package, and 6spd. I should a got manual transfer case as well. I tried to change this 3 weeks into the build and they wouldn't let me switch the tranny. I bet if I was goin from a manual to an auto they woulda done it...

I did get the switches, (they were part of the package and I really did not know what they were. Question: Where do you conect a wire to utilize the switch? On the switch behind the dash? (hard to get to) Or is there a power pick up somewhere else? What I had in mind was using a switch to power a CB.

I paid an extra $250 for all-terrain tires and got the Contis, which is what I would have gotten anyway without charge. Also got limited slip which will be replaced by ARBs anyway. I should have gotten 4.10 gearing instead of the 3.73.

No regrets at 20K miles, still grinning every time I drive it.

can't get 4.10 with a diesel unless you go dually.

I'm with you though... I want 4.10 gears. Might switch them out.

dealer can put the switchs in for you (SHOULD do it at cost of parts!) or you can get them on ebay. Dont like them myself... Kinda cheap looking (IMO), if you have a cell phone not getting them leaves a great cubby hole for the phone!

I ordered mine on 12-23-06. ( 250 Lariat, dark red 18" wheels + goodies )Had second thought of getting SOF so I could have that really neat driver's side glove box. Whoopie!!! ( tranfer case lever will not allow glove box. ) Dealer said he had the build order and could not change anything. Not that I was disipointed. An extra glove box will not be missed but I thoght it was bull that it was being built. Kinda got me heart a-thumbin!! Well Thursday 1-26 while on my way to work I sees a car carrier pulling away from dealer with an empty spot. That night on the way home I snuck into the back of the dealer and Lo and Be hold ther's my truck! Won't be able to get it for 2-3 weeks ( it's a money thing ) and I just can't wait. My question is 4 1/2 weeks from order to delivery is pretty quick. Is that unusual or is Ford sales so slow that there turn around is shorter?

You can add the upfitter switches. Ford has the parts for about $60. It seems way to cheap for everything you get, but I ordered the switches and wiring harness and installed in about an hour. John

This truck is just awesome!!!

Just took delivery today on my 06 lariat. Definitly no regrets on options ordered. I just can't stop grinnin. The power is tremendous. Only put some 60 miles on it but it just feels great. 6.0, SC w/8' bed, captains chairs, cassette with cd, adjustable pedals ( girlfreind is short ) upfitters, trailer control and hitch. I just hope it serves me as well as my old toyota. Pictures to follow soon.

I really wanted the King Ranch also and would of spent the extra $$$$ on it, but they wouldn't throw a manual tranny in there for me. So, went with the Lariat, and it is a great package. I actually am glad I didn't order the tubular steps or chrome package. So you might be happy without.

I did'nt want the chrome package either. For the $500 option ya don't get much. Whoopee, chrome ties downs. Did not like the billet grille. It's okay just not my taste. I wanted black tubular steps and that's what the dealer said I'd get. The first time I saw the truck on the lot I realized the salesman did't know squat. The black tubes are some cheesy looking ABS coverd running boards. I'l replace them when I order the brush guards. Other than that the Lariat is a great package. Elated about the FORD-SKI!!! That's Ford in Polish, in case ya didn't know.

Regrets on my order:
  1. FX-4 package - Should have just ordered the skid-plate package, I changed out the 'Rancho branded' shocks anyway.
  2. CD player - Should have ordered the 6-disc cd, was going to change it out but ARB's and a TF tank were better choices and the stock stereo sounds great to me.

I didn't order my pickup because I wanted all of the incentives they offered last fall. I did find a vehicle that is exactly as I would have oredered it except for two things.

I have the ESOF and I wanted manual T-case. I also wanted a rear sliding window... but that is easy to put in later.
