The passenger side dashboard mount in my 94 F-150 XL has broken/come loose. I know this is a common problem. What is a common solution? Replace it? But how? What exactly needs to be done here? Any and all help is much appriciated.
There's a kit from ford to fix it.... or you can screw a flat metal strip to the dash, and then to the hole in the door pillar where the dash used to attach to.
From FORD you get one steel, double angle bracket, three pop rivets, and a set of installation instructions all in a box.
Yes they did have to order it and it cost $18.72 plus Tax for a total of 20.09 as of 11/04/05.
Took about two days to get it and with out this number they did not know what I saw talking about. Part # F4TZ-1504366-A
I just installed Ford's kit. It went for a little over $20 It worked great. I would advise using one of the "snake" type drill adapters to drill the holes for the rivets. That's what I did. This way the dash doesn't have to come out as far. The way it is described in the instructions, I would have never been able to drill the 3 holes by just using a drill. If you have the "snake" deal for a electric screw driver, it will work if you can find a drill bit with the hexagonal base. If you don't have one, you can get one at WalMart for about 6 bucks.
