My buddy has a 79 350 dump truck that we use to haul sand and gravel and pull equpment, and he wants to know if there is any way to put airbrakes on the truck so it will stopp better. we have hauled some BIG loads with the truck and some times it dous not stop.

 

The solution is not to overload the truck or buy a bigger truck.

 

Look into a 4 wheel disk brake setup with a hydrobooster behind it. This route you could utilize the PS pump and not add a whole air system. Or like stated above a larger truck if your friends finances permit.

 

In some states a truck with airbrakes requires a CDL to drive it.

 

you will need a CDL. so plan on getting that or buy a better truck.

 

Air brakes are not the solution for you and your friend. Take it easy, don't overload and use the right equpiment for the job.
