Can my truck haul....?
well it depends on what size engine you have. i use to have a 2.3L and it hauled my bassboat. it worked it pretty good, but it got the job done. I would also be concerned about the weight in the bed of the truck. if it is too heavy your front end will become light and tricky to steer(not to mention dangerous). however if you can put it on a trailer, you have nothing to worry about.

You will more than likely exceed the GVWR of your truck. The 2.3L drastically reduces the GVWR, check your sticker on the driver's door for your GVWR. If you want, take your truck down to the local truck stop and weight it, costs about $7. Be sure it is full of fuel, peple, or anything else you will be carrying when hauling this piano. Then subtract the scale weight from the GVWR, this will tell you how much weight you can haul.

Can my truck haul....?
Hey, lizardgirl
Again What size is the engine?
I have a 94 ranger XLT supercab with a 3.0 engine (4x2). I use it as a dailly driver, and also use to do moving & hauling when needed. I've had to haul some dirt & sod to the dump several times. Both times the mud flaps were dragging a little. I guestimate about 1,500 pounds in the bed of truck. Handled real well. I've also had a new refridgerator in the bed several times.
My truck now has over 140,500 miles on with no modes, yet, and have had no problems with it at all. maybe burns a little oil, but runs great.
Hope this helps

it comes down to legallity. If you are overloaded and cause an accident and they prove you were overloaded, get ready for a beating. From what I understand, your insurance company can drop you and not pay a dime towards the court settlement. I haven't been able to confirm this, but a lot of people are reporting this and I would hate to find out the hard way that they were right. Just my $.02

Thank you, each of you, for your help and sugestions!
To answer your questions about the truck, I'm not sure what the engine size is, but I know it's the largest available for the Edge Ranger.
After reading your comments, we've decided to rent a trailer so we can pull the piano rather than put it in the truck bed. We're moving it tomorrow. Wish me luck!
Thanks again!

You never trust a dealer, just like you never trust an rv salesman, when it comes to how much weight you can legally pull. Work the numbers yourself, and you will stay out of trouble. All trucks can get more weight moving than they are rated for, it's the stopping which creates the problem. If you end up in a panic stop, I sure hope I'm not the one in front of you.
So many trucks are overloaded now a days because the truck salesman and the rv salesman have no idea what is legal and what is not. You could pull into an rv dealership and they would tell that your hyundai could pull a 30' TT if it got you to buy it. Buyer beware, the law can/will get you sooner or later.
